Goals

By March 25, 3 students that are currently performing on grade level, in a small reading group setting will be able to read 10 nonsense words following the vowel-r pattern with 90% accuracy as measured by the PSI.

Last week students had a phonics review so this will be a new skill for these students.


Midpoint:

2 of the 3 students mastered the controlled-r skill and moved out of the group. 2 students that mastered the previous skill moved into the group. She will continue monitoring the new students in the same 3 week cycle.


Target Goal:

All but 2 students mastered r-controlled vowels. All students are in fluency groups now for the remainder of the school year.

Coachee Note 1:

Kayla emailed her goal – nonsense words with the vowel-r pattern, reading with 90% acc.

This skill is next on the pacing guide for her second grade students. The 3 students she selected are her “bubble kids”. She is hoping by increasing the intensity of the instruction, they will pass the progress monitoring this first time and won’t be placed in an intervention group.

She currently has vowel-r pattern posters on her wall but she mentioned created a smaller visual for each students to either put on their desks or somewhere they have access to quickly.

She is going to send a video next week to demonstrate the work in her small group and we can discuss what is going well, what frustrations or barriers she is encountering and if anything needs to be changed.
