Coachee Note 1:

Raegan reflected on the modules and class – she was WOWed by the dyslexia simulation. She would have liked some tools to take away with to best help her students that struggle or have been identified as dyslexic.

We then discussed how her district/school sets up MTSS groups based around phonics skills using PSI, and ORF (Fastbridge). Students are in a group for 3 weeks then progressed monitored and if the student passes the skill identified they are regrouped and move onto the next skill. If a student does not “pass = (90%)” then they stay in the same group and work on the skill again. If a student does not “pass” after the second 3 week intervention cycle, they move on to the next skill.

Raegen hasa student that has failed skill 5 twice and she had to move on per district guidance. She is thinking about creating a goal around her needs. I shared with Raegan the QPS and QSS – just another form of progress monitoring specific to phonics skills. I suggested that she look for something similar with 95% groups since that is the primary resource for phonics instruction.

She is going to get started on a goal and will send it via email.

Our next meeting is scheduled for 2/26 at 3:15.
