Nicole reflected on the Tide Pool videos from the online course. It really frustrated her, which was the intention of the activity. She said it really made her think about how much is going on in the brain of her students already identified. She tried the activitiy with her students and it left a small impact.
We also discussed a possible impact goal of bridging the gap from fluency to comprehension. She has quite a few “fluent” readers that still struggle with comprehension. Currently she does not have time in her schedule for read aloud, which is tough because students need to hear a a fluent reader and practice listening comprehension skills. The only time she has with all of her students in her room is during morning meeting and that is focused around SEL and cooperative skills, which is extremely important.
I am going to sen her some resources to create a goal around how to f reading comprehension skills and strategies.
