Coach Log Note 1:
We completed introductions, discussed coaching roles, and discussed the course alignment with our work. Rachel does have instructional coaching in her district but has never worked with a coach.
Rachel discussed these areas of current challenges.
- She started doing Check for Understanding Assessments with five problems aligned around ELA standards. Her students are not performing well on those.
- She has lower areas on her MAP, FastBridge, and QPA data, which she would like to increase.
- There are whole-class reading time, small group time, and intervention time. Currently, she does not have time to complete tasks for her small group time because whole-class time is taking too long. She would like to better establish routines for either whole-group time or small-group time.
- Between now and next time, she is using these questions to help her narrow down a focus.
- What do I want students to be doing more of, less of, or differently when it comes to students’ word recognition skills?
