Notes
Tessa is a 4th grade teacher with a classroom of 24 students with very diverse needs. Seven students that are very low, 4 students in the below benchmark and the rest are on grade level with a few at exceeds. She feels her strength is classroom management which is good in that she has a lot of behaviors to deal with this year. She has been teaching for 22 years and all at Countryside Elementary in Olathe in 3rd or 4th grade.
She reports that her ELA block starts with MTSS reading for 30 min and then WIT and Wisdom for a little over an hours. Later she does a word work chunk called NSRC (Syllable work, spelling and morphology) for 15 minutes and then DRI for 15 min (which has not started at the beginning of the year). She is still getting routines and schedule underway.
Tessa has finished the first Module and the assessment but says it was a little bit of a mess enrolling and getting set up in class. She is still not getting all of the emails from KU that others are getting. We spent some time setting her up on the APLL system as she said she did not get that email from Suzanne.
I asked her to start thinking about a problem of practice with her students so we can set a goal next meeting. We discussed some examples like phonics or spelling and that it needed to be a group that she would have for the length of the goal. I will send her some example goals.
