The time was spent getting to know Jodi’s professional journey. She has had several other careers before teaching. She been teaching 9 years in Topeka.
Her school district uses Benchmark Advance. The district has implenented it the last 3 years. The first year of implementation, the district mapped everything out. The had 90 minutes to teach it, The amount to cover felt like a lot to Jodi. The following year, the district made slides to go with the materials. In her opinion it was still a lot of ground to cover The third year of implementation, the district has scaled back what the teachers cover in a day.
In order to group students for intervention/connect time, the district uses MAP scores and puts them ona quadrant. They also use QPAs to collect data. When I inquired about if they give Fastbridge, she said that only 4-5 people in the building have access to it and none of the classroom teachers give the assessments.
In closing, when I inquired where she is in the class, she said that she had completed Module and half of module 2.
