Coachee Note 1:

This in Anson’s first year teaching Kindergarten. He moved to Olathe this summer with his wife and 2 children. He previously taught grades 2 and 3 in Illinois.

His previous distict had short PD around structured literacy and used UFLI for phonics. Currently he is using 95% group for phonics and he has seen huge growth out of his students and many of them are reading. He has already started the modules and shared that he recognized some of the structured literacy components like Scarborough’s Robe and the 5 Pillars.

We are going to meet during p/t conferences on 5/9 then set up a reoccuring time. I told him we would create a goal next time so be thinking of a challenge he has encountered when teaching phonics or literacy (Wit and Wisdom is their ELA resource), something he wants to learn more about or a success he has had. He mentioned struggling students that haven’t mastered all letters and sounds – that could be a first goal for the semester.

Anson demonstrated an extremely postive attitude about teaching and his students and seems extremly open minded. I am looking forward to working with him this upcoming semester.
