Claudia returned to teaching after spending time at home caring for her child with special needs and brings significant teaching and life experience to her classroom. She described herself as willing to think outside the box and try different approaches to reach all of her students, particularly those who are struggling. Claudia was highly engaged in our conversation, receptive to suggestions, and interested in learning additional strategies to support her students. Because she is still getting to know her class, we did not identify a specific instructional goal during this meeting. Claudia will gather literacy data and identify a student or small group she would like to focus on, and we will use that information at our next meeting to determine an area of need and develop a focused, measurable coaching goal.
