Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

Lisa is in the process of completing Module 5 without any difficulties or concerns.  She just administered an interim assessment of her students’ vocabulary mastery (5/9 met mastery).  We discussed the weak performance of one student with special needs; she will contact the special education teacher to support instruction by pre-testing the new unit vocabulary words in advance of instruction and practicing key sentences form reading passages.  We discussed generalization and far transfer of skills to meet IEP expectations for a reasonably calculated program that provides grade level access.

We also discussed the multimodality instructional techniques she is applying to initiative, reinforce and consolidate learning.  We reviewed Module 7 information and the Targeted Word Strategy.

I sent her additional information to address literacy in social studies courses: EdWeek Spotlight: Teaching Social Studies to build Literacy and Critical Thinking.

Lisa shared her good medical news!
