Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

Sheryl continues to feel overwhelmed by the course demands as she indicates so much of the learning is new to her.  However, she appreciates the opportunity to learn new skills that she can apply long-term to her classes.  She is a bit behind in completing assignments and is having difficulty with uploading video and application requirements. She will contact Washburn tech for support this week.  We reviewed the various course expectations that she needs to complete.  She asked that I review some of her assignments prior to submission.  She will send me two lesson plans this week.  I assured her that she can contact me any time between our coaching sessions for additional support.

Goal attainment: Sheryl has met her goal for student mastery of critical content vocabulary; her students achieved an average of 82% on the unit post-test.   Sheryl utilized instructional strategies that she will continue to apply through the remainder of the year, including: pre-teaching vocabulary, oral fluency strategies and use of visual devices.

We discussed her use of the SIM Concept Mastery Routine to prepare for state science testing.  She used the diagram to review the concept of “producer” and also used the “community” example I the guidebook.  We discussed the importance of co-construction with students and I did a short model of how to dialog to extract key terms from the students in advance of constructing the form.
