Notes
During a personal check-in, Whitney shared that the Easter Bunny is just a big of a deal at their house as the Valentine Bear is! He brought tons of candy, toys, and some coloring things.
She said that the second course is going well. She is appreciative of the fact that there is an Application Task for every two modules! She and her colleagues are planning for a professional discussion to submit.
Her Master’s course is coming along. She said it really helps that she has only one course this time, and not two.
I stated that we had two purposes today:Â to talk about her work toward her student goal and to discuss what she might select for her teacher goal.
She had new data to share: Aylana got 9/10, Elijah got 9/10, and Rogan got 10/10 on Skill 8 (r-controlled vowels). I said I was celebrating that got us to 50% toward her goal! She has started work on soft c and g. She printed out the activities from fcrr.org – Giraffes, Goats, Cats, and Centipedes. She was also able to adapt Jar Sort to suit her purposes. She is continuing the same instructional routines. She has added word chains.
I asked if there was anything else she wanted to say about her student goal, and she said, “Well, I have baseline data for Skill 9…” Ayland got 6/10, Elijah got 8/10, and Rogan got 7/10. That put her at the 75% Goal Stage!
I recapped that last time she had been leaning toward pursuing Writing for her teacher goal. She indicated that she is still interested in that. I was prepared to share my screen and help her explore instructional strategies in that module, but SHE HAD ALREADY DONE THAT! (So proud of her!) She is planning to utilize the Hochman Method first and then the TWR Method. I will look forward to learning from her about these strategies!
We will meet again on 4/21/26 at 3:00 pm.
