Select key strategies from morphology and other modules for universal application across grades and content areas.
Identify assessments to measure student progress in each strand.
Midpoint:
Develop a long-term professional development plan to provide systematic instruction and support of literacy strategies to be used across content areas and grade levels.
Target Goal:
By June 2027, I will develop resources and provide professional development to all teachers in key literacy strategies to support reading comprehension and word recognition. Student achievement scores will increase by 10% across grades and subgroups through teachers’ proficient application of evidence-based instructional methods as measured through observation and professional discussions.
Notes
Darwyn continues to make strong progress in meeting course requirements. We noted the following:
Knowledge tests completed for Modules 2-8 except for phonemic awareness and phonics
Knowledge tests for Modules 4, 5, 9-12 still need to be completed
Module 2: still needs to be addressed
Module 3 – to be incorporated in a lesson
Module 4 – observation completed
Module 5 – observation completed (add in info on oral language to fulfill Module 3 requirement
Module 6 – lesson completed
Module 7/8 – professional discussion completed
Mod 9/10 – a second professional discussion to be scheduled
Mod 11/12 – Need to complete a lesson including Module 3
We also discussed and formulated a long-term instructional goal that ensures universal attention to literacy strategy application across grades and disciplines. Darwyn plans to develop a specific handbook of learning course strategies that will support student learning. He will provide professional development for all teachers throughout the year reiterating the rationale and expected evidence of application.  I sent him a copy of my instructional strategy blog format to guide his construction of this resource.
