Begin to plan for an instructional leadership goal to be addressed through the next school year.
We focused much time on his concerns over secondary special education service for two student who scored at the 1% level for fluency as ninth graders. He noted that there is a sentiment that not much can be done for students at that age level. We talked extensively about how to provide specially designed instruction. I offered him some reflection tools to use in determining cultural, knowledge and application issues at the school. I also gave him information on the SIM strategies as he wants to learn more about instructional resources for the secondary level.
Long-term goal: We discussed options including building an instructional guide of evidence-based practices that he learned f through the course, focused attention on key instructional strategies that could be applied school-wider, and revising walk-through guides to address special instructional processes. I offered him all of the blog posts on instructional strategies that are on my website.
Darwyn asked about the APLM site as he recalls getting information about access. I asked that he find the email so we can address any requirements.
