Coach Log Note 1:

We started with talking about how stressful May is for teachers. Trying to continue instruction with multiple interruptions throughout the day.

I asked Raegan about any insights she’s had with her students and comprehension. She said the last module comprehension assessment her students all scored mastery. She didn’t change anything in her instruction. She wonders if the subject matter was entertaining and students were able to make connections. She noted that alot of the stories in Wit and Wisdom are drab, like Stone Soup. The illustrations are in black and white and it is about soldiers. We also discussed the lack of background knowledge students come to school with and how it is not part of the W&W curriculum but needs to be becasue without it, students will not be able to comprehend.

She admitted that she hadn’t been able to give the adequate amount of time to the 21 day writing challenge. End of the year assessments are interrupting instructional time, but have to be completed as per the district assessment matrix.
