Raegan and her second graders are preparing for the 2nd grade Earth day celebration. Science activities happen all day long and parents come at the end of the day for a kite flying event. She said it is a fun event for the students and their parents.
Raegan started the 21 day writing challenge this week. She is incorporating it into her Wit and Wisdom unit and using vocabulary from the lessons. The example she gave was about veggies and used the word “nourish”. Students only had to copy (transfer) from the board to their paper and she was shocked how many didn’t complete it correctly. Many missing uppercase letter at the beginning of the sentence and puncuation at the end. We understand why the beginning is structured like is, so students can see the modeling of writing but take away the anxiousness in creating their own sentences. As she continues with the writing challenge, she will continue to take anecdotal notes for her goal and share them with me.
