Coach Log Note 1:

Katy did not start a new goal, since her students were still struggling with decoding. She works with with Special Ed students who may very small incremental gains. We talked about how to break down the CVC blending/ segmenting task to even smaller bits, so she can see their progress and know what step to take next. She has noticed that one student in particular could be successful when independently do the examples that she modeled. Others could be successful segmenting and blending new words in the same pattern. Keeping exact progress monitoring notes on each student helps her know how to plan for next steps and communicate to classroom teachers the progress each student is making.
