Session Time: 04/23/2026 5:30 pm | Phase: Take Action | Session Length: 0:30

Goals

By May 15th, I will revise the PreK progress report, based on the Kansas Early Learning Standards, to simplify and capture the learnings essential to prepare preschoolers for success in kindergarten.
Stage: Midpoint

Goal Information

Date: April 2, 2026

Attainment Scale:
Starting Point:

The current progress report contains the following categories and number of items tested
Approaches to learning - 5
SEL - 11
Mathematical Knowledge - 8
Physical Health and Development - 5
Color recognition -
Shape recognition - 8
Number recognition to 20
Communication and Skill Development - 11
Letters in first name
Letters in last name
Uppercase Letter recognition
Lowercase Letter recognition

It is too much, parents aren't interested in all of these standards. What is essential?

Midpoint:

Make suggestions for revisions of at least two to three categories.

Target Goal:

Develop a clear understanding of what is developmentally appropriate at PreK based on the Kansas Early Learning Standards. When unsure about the meaning of "some" and other ambiguous words in the standards, learn how to clearly define them and refine the PreK progress report using this information.

Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

Edna sent her progress report to me. I asked the Olathe PreK program for the progress report they used and then sent it to Edna for review.

She has also collected the kindergarten grade card and looked at all these resources to callibrate what she is using for mastery on her P4 progress report. There are areas of the progress report that she is going to delete and then just other revisions about expectations of mastery.

We set one final meeting to look at the revised progress report that she has developed for May 21st.
