Six students in a small group scored an average of 5/15 of the words or 33% and 25/33 of the syllables or 70% on a syllable screener assessment.
Midpoint:
By October 30, educator will teach a group of six students in syllable spelling strategies for extra practice and success to score 65% (10/15) of the words and 80% (29/36)of the syllables on a syllable screener containing 15 words and 36 syllables.
Target Goal:
By December 11, educator will teach a group of six students in syllable spelling strategies for extra practice and success to score 90% of the words and 90% of the syllables on a syllable screener containing 15 words and 36 syllables.
Notes
Today Katie and I talked about the results of her baseline Spelling Screener that we created. The screener is made up of 15 two and three syllable words. Students are to spell the words correctly and get two scores, one for correct word and one for syllables. Baseline average of the scores were 5/15 for words and25/36 for syllables. She was surprised that some did so well and others did not.
She will be giving them more opportunities for practice and extra strategies to improve on their syllable spelling. I will send her a new screener for the next checkpoint. I ask her for a video and lesson plan prior to our next meeting.
