Overarching Goal:  The 3^rd grade students in gifted education will be able to identify root words with 90% accuracy by April 3; identify prefixes including using words with prefixes correctly (grammatically) with 90% accuracy by April 30; identify and use suffixes with 90% accuracy by the end of the year. The success of the students will be assessed using a pre-test and post-test through SeeSaw. The strategy to be used will be a graphic organizer that asks students to correctly dissect a word but also use an illustration, drawing, and sentence to demonstrate understanding (possibly an adapted Frayer Model).

NOTE: Due to family conferences, President’s Day, and illness, Kelly has not had time to work with the students on the affixes skills including making a video of instruction. She will continue working on this for the next coaching session, March 12.

Based on our reflections, is there anything we need to change about the overarching goal? No, I think the students are going to meet the goal.

What is working with your students? Learning the root words and then creating their own word based on putting things together. 

What is challenging for your students? Nothing at the moment

Have you determined any progress toward goal during the past week? Not officially, but they are all completing assignments with 100% accuracy.

Are you confident that students will make the improvement we are striving for by mid-March? Yes

Do we need to change anything about the goal at this time? No
