Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

REFLECT AND RECOMMIT

  • Check-in

She and her family are good.  The girls will have two more weeks in daycare so Jessica will have four days to herself.  :-). This summer they plan to visit Deanna Rose and get their house painted.

  • Course

All done!  Post-test done!!!

  • Goal(s) Met?  YES

We had previously celebrated Charlotte’s progress.  She also improved from 13 wpm to 38 wpm, even though this is still low.  She is on the watch list for SPED and will probably need a new PSI next year.

Jessica had already talked about her instructional work with visualizing, so today she told me about her plans for using POSSUM from the beginning of the year next year.  She has sent the POSSUM “form” to the printer to be ready.  She and her team plan to use it for the vocabulary they teach instead of the Frayer Model (as identified in Wit and Wisdom).

  • To what do you attribute your success?

She was unsure, so I named:  her faithfulness to the process, her perseverance, and her varied and explicit instruction for Charlotte.

  • What new learning was significant?

She said, “I really learned and there is lots to use and apply!”  She wants to look more into utilizing learning and strategies in the areas of comprehension and writing for her 2nd graders next year.

  • What does taking this course mean for your work next year?

She hopes to still have access to the modules to review with the team and to remind them of things they want to implement.

  • When you consider our coaching times together, what things were helpful? Not helpful?

resources, coaching helped her stay on track, validation! and nothing we did together seemed, “extra”

  • Final Word from Coachee:

“Thank you very, very much!  I’m glad you were my coach.”
