Coach Log Note 1:
Anson is really looking forward to using more of the strategies learned in class in teaching second grade next year. He reflected on how much time is spent on the top rope with decoding in Kindergarten. He is excited about teaching morphology and making more connections to writing.
Biggest Takeaways from class?
- the structure of the class allowed him to work at his pace
- the why behind the structure of teaching phonics – not just following lesson plans
- how important vocabulary is and how you don’t have to always stick with the words identified in the W&W resource
