Goals

Through explicit, systematic and cumulative instruction, I will focus on the development of Tier 2 Academic Vocabulary to support my students’ reading comprehension development in the content areas of science and social studies during the upcoming school year.

Coach Log Note 1:

Lisa has completed all course requirements other than one video on syntax that she plans to complete today. She expressed that the comprehensive modules on literacy development (going beyond phonics) was a great help to her. She also shared that her students offered positive feedback about their learning as she used a morphology lesson example (liber). One student approached her after class and said, “Wow, I never knew that before. Thanks.”

Lisa also indicated that she achieved her student goal to increase reading comprehension through use of visualization and summarizing strategies. All but one student reached the target goal as measured through curriculum based assessments.

We discussed her interest in extending vocabulary development to tier 2 works and noted the resources I had sent her last month. Her final goal that will extend to next year is based on the development of academic vocabulary in her science and social studies classes (see new goal).
