Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

During a personal check-in, Lisa said that she and her family we doing well.  Wednesday is her and her husband’s 20th anniversary!

I stated that today we had two purposes:  talking about the wrap-up of all of her assignments and reflecting/celebrating the achievement of her goal.

She reported that all of the knowledge assessments were done, that Application Task 11/12 would be submitted tonight, that she was almost done with the write-ups of her lessons and observations, and that she had made a lot of progress on Module 2.  She said she had gotten really good feedback on her write-up of her first professional discussion, and that she appreciated the thoroughness and affirmation of the feedback.  She has been doing some re-formatting on her Goal Project, but I urged her (ever the perfectionist!) to leave that until her assignments were done since Thursday everything is due.

I reaffirmed and celebrated the quality of her Goal Project and said I was looking forward to seeing how it made its way into the world for the good of the profession!

I then asked her to reflect over the course and share what “bubbled to the top,” given all of her learning and experiences.  After a pause, she said that she felt excitement for taking her learning forward.  She is encouraged by the science backing and acceptance of what she learned.  She had worried that having to get her Seal of Literacy would be a “hassle,” but she loves being a student and was relieved to find all of the ways her new learning fit with her old learning (especially around language development).  She said that she had downloaded many of the slide shows and affirmed that there was “so much value” in the modules.  She especially appreciated the consideration of ELLs and Diverse Learners in the information and strategies presented.  She said, “It works, and it’s going to work!”

I affirmed my joy in working with her as a voracious learner and a dedicated professional!  She said she had loved our work together and had appreciated the background I provided, my personality, being given grace, and the experience I brought to our work together.  I gave her the last word, and she said that it had been “a really complete experience!”

(She is interested in the year-long coaching that Dr. Myers offered and we are seeking more information about how to make that happen.)
