Notes
Goal attainment: Sara met her goal by reaching 94% mastery of unit vocabulary (goal was 90%). We discussed the continued work on vocabulary development in her class. She will continue with goal on new unit (Human Impact) starting with baseline of 6.71/10 vocabulary words for 17 students. Sara indicates, For the Human Impact unit, the vocabulary we are focusing on are population, fossil fuels, nonrenewable resources, renewable resources, overpopulation, hydropower, climate change, endangered species, threatened species, and deforestation. Sara will keep track of student progress for the new unit of study so that we can show she is working toward goal attainment through continued development of instructional strategies.
She will continue to address instruction by:
- Creating visual aids using pictures of the weather vocabulary words (students use etymology to help, review before gluing)
- Using the visual aids to match words with definitions (independent practice)
- Review in game form from definitions to word (small groups)
- Word wall with images
- Grade level readings over weather and climate
- Technology over topic
- Application to real world experiences and need
Sara is working on her problem of practice assignment stressing the development of syntax in sentence writing. She declined offers to have me support this process. She is currently working through modules 9 and 10.
