Cassie develops a rubric with a 6 point scale and gets a baseline score for each of her students.
Midpoint:
Students score a 3 on the rubric - recalls the main idea of the passage and a few supporting details.
Target Goal:
Students score a 5 on the rubric - students recalls main idea and a robust set of details in a summary format in logical order.
Notes
Cassie sent work samples from each of the 4 students of their baseline worksheet and their work 3 weeks after. Each student made progress from their first atttempt. Each student was able to draw pictures for the important details and then write sentences for them. Others could write sentences for the details and also state the main idea for that paragraph. She is anxious to use these materials with students next year since she has had time to give them a try at the end of this year.
