Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

Reba Mathew and I met on April 30 to discuss her progress as she works with her focus students on the goal of increasing fluency and comprehension.

Specifically, Reba has been using the UFLI curriculum to work with students on fluency. Using CBMs, Reba monitors the progress of the students each week.  On the most recent CBM, student S met her goal, receiving a raw score of 18 which translates into a 25% rank.

To increase comprehension, Reba is specifically working on sequencing and has used strategies such as sequencing cards and working individually with the students to go back into the text and discuss the sequence of the story.  She is using the book Stuart Little for this work, which is a book of interest for the students.

During the most recent meeting with the students, Reba noticed that they were struggling with vocabulary. As a result she is implementing vocabulary strategies such as frayer model as the students experience difficulty.

We will meet again on May 5 at which time Reba will discuss student progress with vocabulary.
