Notes
During a personal check-in, Lori shared about her daughter being at home from college for some support after a hard thing.
She said that the course was going well, and she is working on Modules 11 and 12.
I stated that we had two purposes:Â to talk about progress toward her student goal and toward her teacher goal.
Lori was prepared with new data for Sophia and Delta, using the fluency rubric. Sophia is now a 12 (with a growth of 5!) and Delta is now an 11 (with a growth of 6!). The girls showed improvement in all four areas of Expression/Volume, Phrasing, Smoothness, and Pace. :-). We celebrated, and Lori said, “I’m just so happy!” She is planning to keep going with this instruction for the girls and is hoping that they will also show growth on the CBM. She is continuing to use fcrr.org activities and has printed off some Reader’s Theater scripts. Job well done!
For her teacher goal, Lori chose first to utilize Word Webs from the Vocabulary Module for their nutrition unit in Wit & Wisdom. They put, “vegetable,” in the middle of the word and the teacher got them started by modeling how to add words connected to vegetable. Partners then finished out the webs utilizing their books for reference, and she said, “The conversations were amazing!” When asked to reflect, she said she would definitely do it again! It seemed easy, but substantially important, to add this into the “script” from Wit and Wisdom. She said that the students made organic connections and put it this way, “The connections they make are ones I can’t make them make.” She is making connections to other units during which she could use word webs.
We will meet again on 5/5/26 at 4:15.
