Identify two strategies
Target Goal:
By May, 2026, the teacher will select a content area module (Vocabulary) and identify two strategies from the course (Selecting Tier 2 Words and POSSUM) to explore and implement in the classroom and discuss with the coach: 1) what they tried, 2) how it went, 3) student response, 4) own reflections, 5) connections to their work.
Notes
During a personal check-in, Courtney shared that she was exhausted, but the cruise was wonderful. This continues to be a busy time for her! Elle is graduating soon and tonight is her Senior Capstone Project Showcase. She just got back to school today to find “piles and piles” of things to sort through/do. Student profiles for the creation of class lists are due tomorrow. her colleagues are meeting tomorrow morning to discuss videos for the Modules 9/10 Application task, and they have a field trip that she is in charge of on Friday. I asked her if her life ever eased up, and she said, “Yes, for about two weeks in July when I’m at the lake.” She is very conscientious and doesn’t do anything halfway, but she’s trying to very “present” for the senior activities. She said it would be fine if she just didn’t have to sleep.
She said coursework was going OK.
I stated that we had two purposes today:Â to talk about progress toward her student goal and progress toward her teacher goal.
She asked the sub to do the vocabulary lessons for her, but she is going to give them a few days of instruction with her before she tests them again. She will send me that info soon. She has everything printed and laminated for the instruction of the last heart words in her goal – 4 more.
She is still planning to identify Tier 2 words (from the next Wit and Wisdom unit on Immigration) and to teach them using POSSUM. She wants to know how long it takes/how to do it well so she will be prepared to utilize it with her class next year – one evidence of her learning and implementation of content from this course.
