Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

Today, Danielle checked in to share how her group of kindergarten students is progressing with word mapping. The group has put in significant effort and is showing strong growth in both segmenting and blending skills. Danielle noted, however, that students are not yet automatic when working with nonsense words.

To support this, she plans to have students encode words and then read them back, which may help them self-correct when they miss final sounds. She is also considering incorporating word ladders to strengthen their ability to hear ending sounds. Danielle will conduct a final round of progress monitoring for this group on April 28.

We also discussed a potential goal for her next instructional cycle. While Danielle has been implementing the curriculum with fidelity, she has noticed that it is not fully meeting the needs of her students early in the school year. She is interested in exploring ways to adapt portions of the curriculum to better support student needs.

We will discuss this further during out next session on April 22.
