Notes
During a personal check-in, Jessica shared that Wrenlea’s birthday was a good and busy day! Raylynne and Wrenlea both enjoyed Easter with church and time with family. Their plans to be with her Mom got delayed because Sunday morning she got the news that her mom was in the hospital having her gall bladder removed!
She is just getting started on Module 7.
I stated that we had two purposes today:Â to talk about her work toward her student-goal and to explore possibilities for her teacher-goal.
She will be testing her group on Friday, so there is not yet updated information for Charlotte. Jessica reports that Charlotte pays attention and gives effort, but still struggles. She can “read” words in a passage that is focused on the vowel team she has been working on, but has trouble when they are “mixed” and she doesn’t know which one to choose. Jessica has printed off the games from fcrr.org and hopes to use them as review when she is ready. Charlotte is also working at home and Jessica is hopeful she will pass Skill 7.
We also discussed what area she might select for her teacher-focused goal. She is thinking she wants to work on comprehension with her 2nd grade class. We shared my screen and looked at content and strategies from the Comprehension Module. I suggested that she focus in on one or two of the comprehension strategies. She said that they do a lot of “wondering” (Asking Questions), but that she doesn’t do a good job of returning to their wonderings or doing anything with them. She sees value in strengthening instruction in this area. We also talked about Visualizing. She will watch the instructional video in the module and think how she might utilize this with her whole class during Readaloud time.
We will meet again on 4/20/26 at 3:15 pm.
