Goals
Stage: Midpoint
Goal Information
Date: February 18, 2026Notes
Andrea’s reflections today focused on the successes she is experiencing with her small group. She shared that the UFLI resource has been highly effective. Because it differs from the materials students have previously used, engagement has increased noticeably. Additionally, the faster pacing of the lessons helps maintain momentum and keeps students actively involved.
At this midpoint, there has been significant growth—enough that others have begun to take notice. For example, the Title I teacher has decided to implement UFLI with her own students after observing the progress of these two learners. This does, however, introduce a potential dilemma: part of the students’ motivation appears to stem from the novelty of the resource, and repeated exposure may lessen that effect.
We briefly discussed the motivation equation from the business context (E + V = M) as a framework for analyzing factors that influence student motivation. Andrea plans to explor this further.
Additional positive outcomes include improved attendance after involving parents in the conversation. Overall, Andrea has grown into a stronger advocate for students who are behind in developing essential skills at upper grade levels. She is working across multiple levels to remove barriers that have previously hindered student progress.
Andrea expressed a desire to carry these practices forward into her future work. At our next meeting, we may build on this momentum by identifying a focused goal for the next phase of coaching.
