Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

During a personal check-in, Jessica shared that, in spite of “the crazy weather,” her family visited the family of her husband’s sister in St. Louis.  They are planning for Wrenlea’s second birthday this weekend.  🙂

Course 1 is wrapped up, she is just waiting to see final scores/grades.

I shared that our main purpose today was to talk about her work toward her goal.  She is continuing to work with Charlotte (in a group of 5) and this is her second time to be in a group for Skill 7.  She recently scored 50% on nonsense words and 60% on unpredictable vowel teams within sentences, putting her at the .25 goal phase level.

The lesson format is:  intro the vowel team, listen for the sound, sort words as a group, highlight words with that pattern in the passage.  The second day’s lesson is:  do sound mapping (with the teacher and independently), read the passage, and do sentence dictation.

When I asked if she had utilized some of the activities/games we had found for this level at fcrr.org, she said she had forgotten about them and thanked me for the reminder.  She plans to use them and magnetic letters to bring in some novelty and other ways of being hands-on with the learning.

We talked about what a teacher-oriented goal might look like around one of the areas of content in Course 2, and she is leaning toward comprehension.

We will meet again on 4/6/26 at 3:15.
