Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

Goal Attainment:  Erin has completed the Coordinate Plane unit.  Baseline was 23% knowledge of terms and end of unit was 86% of students learned over 80% of key vocabulary.  She has achieved her goal.  Tomorrow is her field day to the DoD Database and her students will use their knowledge of coordinate planes as they are introduced to the 191 Refueling Wing.

Erin explained that she will not have time to address the upcoming Volume unit.  In the next several weeks there will be state testing, snow day vacation days that weren’t used during the year, music programs and other school events that will take away for her content area instructional time.

We also discussed her coursework.  She completed her oral language video; she has completed Module 9.  Currently, she is working on her submission of morphology lesson plans and asked that I provide feedback before she submits them.  Specifically, she is working on prosody with the students who are in her intervention block through dialogic reading.  We discussed that she should have evidence of explicit instruction.  She shared that she is using all of the strategies we addressed in our last meeting.  Additionally, she is having great success with a multi-modality approach to learning.  Her students acted out the vocabulary words to show their understanding.  One student who is deaf taught the class to use sign language to show the quadrants and format of graphing for coordinate planes.  Erin has several students with highly diverse needs; she is utilizing various strategies in keeping with the instructional expectations of the science of reading.
