Jessica Ross

This meeting was via email after Jessica and I had a few attempts to meet but had difficulty. Here are her reflections

1. I have been working with my student on encoding. I have also decided that I am going to bring her up for SIT to get evaluated for Special Education. She is making progress based on small group as well as with using some scaffolding on her spelling test. She has made progress but I have major concerns that seem to follow some dyslexia signs.
2. I would like to be more intentional during my reading/writing instruction of using tier 2 words. I would also like to have students use more tier 2 words in their writing and while discussing. This can be done by having a word wall up and available and students have to use these while verbally discussing and then use a select number in their writing.
   ( I will work on taking notes on this.)
3. We had chatted a bit about the difference between grammar and syntax and I would say that is what I have taken away. I thought before that those are used interchangeably and although they may be over similar concepts, they are not the same.

Jessica and I will meet again on 5/7 and 5/14
