Notes
I started the session with checking in on how things were going with the modules and face-to-face class. She still needs to do the last two modules, but was appreciative that the last face-to-face session has been canceled because her plate is really full these days.
The coachee shared about the Interactive Read Aloud session and how she was able to put to use the book title connections with one of her science objectives using The Tiny Seed. She intends to dig into the Harvard Project Zero website that was shared, as well.
Since she is a first year teacher, I wanted to circle back around to see if her perspective on her autonomy/scope of influence has changed. Because she is a first year teacher, she felt like she does have some freedom, but is grateful for the leadership of her teammates guiding her through this first year.
When I asked her about her instructional goal of implementing two new fluency activities by May 22nd, she was excited to share that she has already reached the goal by using two different FCRR fluency activities: Fast Phrases and Pass the Word. Her students were extremely motivated by the competitive piece of the activities and were excited for something beyond their normal repeated readings routine.
As she reflected on her experience in the Foundations class, she said she is thrilled to have more tools in her toolbelt. Scarborough’s rope has been a helpful visual in her understanding of how everything works together when learning to read.
Our next meeting is scheduled for May 13th at 4:15.
