Coach Log Note 1:
We discussed the lesson assignment that will be included in her coursework.
Laura reaffirmed that she would like to work with morphology as her main focus area with her gifted students.
- Her students are in Quadrant 1, and all but four of the students are at the highest level of achievement; those four are at grade level.
- She said she is developing a pretest that she would like to use to guide our coaching conversations and will give it to her students on Monday.
- She would like to learn more about the morphology matrices and how to incorporate them into her once-a-week time with kids.
- Once she sends the baseline, we will complete her goal.
- Currently, this is a goal we have developed: By December 14, after weekly instruction in 10 selected Greek and Latin roots, students will identify the meanings of at least 8 of the 10 roots and accurately infer and explain the meanings of at least 4 of 5 unfamiliar words containing those roots, using word parts and sentence context as evidence.
Next time, we will run through a morphology lesson on using the matrix with her students.
Next Steps
To Do: Give the pretest to her students
For Coachee
