Immediate Goal: Through July 2026 I will learn and apply structured literacy concepts and skills in the Foundations of the Science of Reading course to a minimum level of 85% mastery to enhance my capacity in supporting and supervising the development of a school-based system of literacy instruction.

Coach Log Note 1:

Jim and I talked at length about how to incorporate literacy instruction in to his school. We discussed that he will support use of evidence-based practices across grade and disciplines. We discussed Wonders and other programs currently used and those recommended on the State website. We also reviewed the assessments listed on the State site. Jim will continue to gain knowledge and integrate information that supports the unique characteristics of his school as he plans for the fall. We discussed the use of PLCs to analyze data and plan for tier 1 small group instruction. We also discussed how the reading specialist position might look in the fall if he needs to share the position across the region.

We discussed that he needs to reach out to the course cadre to determine the modules and schedule for professional discussion. We reviewed all of the application requirement rubrics ad set draft goals.
