Coach Log Note 1:

During a personal check-in, dJennifer shared that Spring Break was good with some lunches out and seeing her brother.  Her son, Jack, will be finished with college in May.  When I asked about Pepper and Remy, she said they are, “living their best lives!”

She said her work on the course is going well.  She has finished with Module 3, but she just needs to finish the Application Task.

I stated that our main purpose today was to examine her problem of practice and challenges she is facing in literacy instruction in order to select a goal area and group.  She told me about a first grade girl who doesn’t know all of her letters and sounds, but knows a lot of sight words.  She stated that she has five different groups that she instructs with different passages aligned to their word study, including Dominic (who needs to work on fouency) and another group struggling with digraphs (specifically sh and sometimes turns ch into th).

She has since emailed me that she has selected a group of four below-level in phonics students and will be giving them a screener and determining a starting point for instruction.  We will set her goal and goal stages after that point.

We will meet again on 4/13/26 at 4:00.
