By the end of semester, 15 second grade students at Tomahawk Elementary will increase their reading scores of a 3rd grade passage by 15% answering comprehension questions.

Will (a district instructional coach) is partnering with a literacy coach and a 3rd year second grade teacher at Tomahawk Elementary to help increase second grade reading scores. The teachers will assess the students using an adapted 3rd grade assessment to get a baseline score and then set a goal for the end of the year.

Coach Log Note 1:

Will is working with a second grade teacher and the Title 1 reading teacher at Tomahawk Elementary. He is partnering with them during whole group reading time to apply his knowledge from this course. He may switch to focusing on their phonics time to understand more about 2nd grade decoding skills. He will ask about Fastbridge scores for the class and see what their word recognition scores are. He needs baseline data to create a new goal. He needs to complete work for Part 1 in the modules. He will do so during Spring Break.
