Session Time: 10/01/2026 12:00 am | Phase: Commit to Change, Take Action | Session Length: 0:30

Goals

By December 3, I will implement all eight Wiley Blevins phonics routines across my first- and second-grade groups, selecting routines that match each group’s skill needs. I will document their use and use brief student reading checks to determine which routines to repeat or adjust. In doing this, I also hope to increase each of my students' scores by 5 percentile points on the benchmark assessments.

Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

We discussed the coursework, and she feels that the content is going very well.

We discussed Wiley Blevin’s 8 phonic routines and where she is with implementing.

  • She has implemented the blending boards and is making them weekly.
  • She is implementing the high-frequency and word-building routines.
  • She struggles with finding the time when she has her students for only 22 minutes and using the 8 routines. We started discussing options for which ones might be everyday routines and which ones would be weekly.
  • We will discuss next time how to balance and which ones we want to be everyday, twice a week, and weekly.

Next Steps

To Do: Continue building in lessons with those routines.
