Module Completion:
Kyla has completed the knowledge sections of the course through module 9. She plans to finish Module 10 over the weekend. She has not completed any of the application assignments yet. We reviewed the three types of application submissions and the site resources available to support her through the process. Kyla will discuss
Kyla shared that she had missed the first class since she was not yet enrolled. Therefore, she had many questions about course requirements. I shared the course information on how to access previous sessions. She will review the video recording of the first course session to learn about the general course expectations and follow-up with any questions – either to me or the course instructor.

Goal progress:
Professional – We discussed the terminology of SDI as indicated in the first goal increment. I will send her my blog post on these terms so that she can further related specially designed instruction and structured literacy components. https://newteachersuccess.com/blog/f/focused-series-2-access-to-the-general-education-curriculum?blogcategory=Special+Education
Student Learning: Kyla has not started instruction on her coding goal with her student.  She indicates that the materials she plans to use (Words Their Way) have just arrived. We discussed the importance of addressing the IEP goals of each individual child rather than programs. I stressed that it’s critical that she begin to work on this goal right away. She will address this matter with her supervising teacher (who is also in the course).
We also discussed how to use the SIM Concept Mastery Routine to provide systematic, explicit and cumulative instruction to foster deep vocabulary understanding, I sent her a hard copy of the manual last week. We will continue to discuss this process at future sessions.
