Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

Christi is concerned that her class is struggling to answer comprehension questions because they don’t understand the vocabulary in the question stems and understanding what information in the text pertains to the question being asked. She is going to begin explicitly teaching the meanings of vocabulary in common question stems and using close reading strategies to help students identify the information in the text corresponding to what the question is asking. She is going to explicitly work on these strategies in her instruction twice a week for 20 minutes during her regular reading instruction time with her entire class. She is hoping that this explicit instruction will result in an improvement in her class average of correctly answering questions in the question sets of her reading curriculum. Next time she will share a video of her instruction and have more data to share on how the students are responding to this instruction.
