Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

During a personal check-in, Lori shared that Easter had been good (but quiet).  The second grade program last week was “so good!”

She is finished with Module 7 & 8 except for teaching and reflecting on the lesson plan that she wrote for the Application Task.

I stated that we had two purposes today:  talk about her work toward her student goal and explore what her teacher goal might be over the Course II content.

She has been using a Fluency Phrase activity from fcrr.org that the girls have really enjoyed.  She has also been focused on Expression during this time.  She has also used a timed activity with phrases on a page and students try to get faster with repeated readings.  She was celebrating that Delta got through the whole page and was so excited about her own success!  She said, “Last time I only…”  I asked what she might focus on to move them up the fluency levels, and she’s thinking she will maybe focus on Pace.  This has been especially important for Delta who suffers from anxiety and timed tests.  She is still hopeful to get to some Reader’s Theater.  She has so enjoyed (and seen the value of) this fluency work, that she is considering implementing Fluency Partners next year for her class.  (I have subbed for her several times and know how well she prepares students for partner work, so I affirmed her thinking!)

In thinking about the content area on which she might like to focus her teacher goal, she indicated that she wants to work on Vocabulary.  She, too, expressed appreciation for the class session focused on Vocabulary.  She is planning to start with Word Webs with her whole class and then try the Tier 2 Word Stories with a small group first.

We will meet again on 4/21/26 at 4:15 pm.
