Notes
During a personal check-in, Ann said that they had a good Easter at her mom and dad’s with an Easter Egg Hunt in the backyard.
She is just getting started on Course II, and is first perusing Module 9 – Comprehension to support her teacher-focused goal.
I stated that we had two purposes today:Â to talk about her work toward her student goal from Course I and to explore possibilities for her teacher goal from Course II.
Skylar has been absent recently and could not be assessed, but Mason and Trip both achieved past the midpoint! She said that they love to work with her and they prefer reading books during the DRI time in which she has been instructing them. She has taught a and u and is now working on o. She has utilized resources from fcrr.org. The next thing she plans to use is a dice game (using just o in the middle at first, then adding in other vowels) to roll and create words which they will categorize and write as nonsense or real words. She is also utilizing CVC games that focus on one vowel at a time that she has in her classroom. She said she has what she needs and she is just going to keep going!
She has selected the Comprehension Module in which to find two new strategies/approaches that she will try with her students. I shared my screen and we looked at some possibilities for: 1) focusing on questioning as one strategy good readers use and/or 2) focusing on the big picture of comprehension Before/During/After reading. She will further explore and decide.
We will meet again on 4/22/26 at 1:50.
