Mary discussed trying to put some interventions in place for VCe and had struggles with that in her class. As per her professor’s advice, she wants to switch her goal to morphology.
We discussed her current morphology routine and resources available. She did not have a strong resource, so I shared the free Literacy Through Language resource by Dr. Shelly Blackwell, which has a 4th-8th aligned morphology instruction teacher manual and a student manual. She is going to use that resource.
She will pre-assess 7 word parts and will use that as her baseline for her new goal.
Tentative new goal: By December 10, I will implement an explicit vocabulary instruction routine to teach seven word parts so that at least 80% of my students score 71% or higher on the post-assessment, demonstrating their ability to explain the word-part meanings and use them to determine the meanings of unfamiliar words.
