Starting Point:
Teach students phonics using the Sprial Up program. Right now students are on l-family blends, have mastered CVC words. Each unit comes with a book and students read the decodable books.
Midpoint:
Module 6, 7, 8 application
Target Goal:
Adam will successfully complete the application tasks for modules 4-12 as required for class.
He is really feeling challenged in how to respond to the application tasks successfully and feels like this would support him in learning the new information.
Notes
Adam set a goal today to get assistance for completing his application tasks for the course. I know this is a bit of an unusual goal, however, Adam is a SPED teacher and he hasn’t had any courses in reading instruction. He is really overwhelmed with all the vocabulary and information coming at him. He seemed to think that he would have more confidence to complete the task if we could talk through things together.
I asked him to send me the phonics lessons that he will teach for the application and the student data. We will talk through the lesson and how it uses the Structure Literacy principles.
My goal is to help explain things in plain terms and make connections for him so that the learning moves to his long-term memory.
