Target Goal:
By May, a group of three 5th grade ELL students will increase vocabulary knowledge by being able to correctly define 14/16 words from the Wit & Wisdom curriculum using a teacher-made vocabulary assessment.
Notes
During a personal check-in, Leslea shared that she felt “pretty good,” that conferences went fine, and that they’re remodeling their house and doing the work themselves! They’ve been prepping for the kitchen work to be done over Spring Break.
When asked about coursework, she said, “I’m done.” She’s my only coachee to have completed all six modules by this point!
I shared that our purposes were to finalize her goal and goal phases and to explore resources she might use in support of her goal.
We went through (on my shared screen) the instructional strategies/activities contained in the Vocabulary Module. We identified the Vocabulary Knowledge Scale as a tool (she said, “I love self-assessments!), the POSSUM approach and graphic organizer, Instructional Routine #2, Vocabulary Word Template, and the Frayer Model Template. I sent these to her as attachments or screenshots or links after the call, since she does not have access to Module 7 yet.
She is anxious to get started and we will meet again on 3/25/26 at 4:15.
