Notes
During a personal check-in, Amber shared that the class was working well and that she and her student teacher had found their “groove” for teaching together. I inquired if her MACE presentations were ready, and she said, “Almost.” One is titled, “Work Smarter with AI: A Beginner’s Guide to Befriending AI” and the other is called, “AI in Action: Tools, Tasks, and Teamwork.” So impressive!
She shared that she had observed her colleague (Amber Shelton) teach a whole group Wit & Wisdom lesson with a focus on vocabulary for one Application Task, and that she and Amber had a professional diascussion for another Application Task. She is working on Modules 5 and 6 now.
We discussed the well-written goal she had sent me ahead of time, and determined the Goal Stage points together.
She shared her work for fluency instruction in support of accuracy, rate, and expression. She spoke of choral readings, Reader’s Theater, vocabulary support with visuals, and developing their own comprehension questions, which they asked with a microphone. (We talked briefly about how comprehension and fluency support one another…).
I shared that I had seen suggestions in the module for work on phrasing that she might find useful. I also directed her to some fluency activities found at fcrr.org for her consideration.
We will meet again on 3/26/26, at which time she will share current data.
