After catching up since our last meeting, Ellen and I looked at some data in hopes of landing on a goal. She discussed a student she has who is working on R controlled vowels and a small group who are needing work with digraphs. She felt at the time that she would like to focus on the small group working with digraphs and indicated that she would like to really focus on implementing the Phonics Build Up resource with fidelity. We tentatively settled on a goal that she is working through.
By November 13, students not at benchmark level in phonics will be able to read words with digraphs as evidenced by 80% accuracy on the QPS.Â
Ellen hopes to start by October 1. She wanted to rescreen her students before committing to all the details of the goal.
I sent an email follow-up from our meeting with a goal sheet that included the original goal and the suggestion that we consider 90% for the goal. I did not hear back from Ellen.
