Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

Jessica said she was working through the modules in class but feels she is overthinking her answers.  She has done one application in observing another teacher’s reading block and feels like she learned so much.  It has improved what she is doing in phonics and reading.  She asked if there is an overall assessment at the end of the course and I was not sure so I told her to ask Suzanne next time.

We talked about her goal.  She had already worked on it before we met so just went through it to make sure all the components were there.  She chose an IEP student that she is worried about.  He works hard but still has some problems with word level reading so is not accurate in his reading.  He does not have a lot of confidence but always volunteers to read out loud.  He does already get pull out for resource to work on phonics skills so she feels she can work on fluency and accuracy.  She state that comprehension is good but we will see.  She wants to work on repeated reading and phrasing to improve his rate and accuracy.

Next Steps

To Do: Begin intervention with student, look over the fluency routine that coach sent for ideas. Make sure you keep the idea of accuracy out front.

  • To Do: Summary of meeting: Goal is set, good job! Remember to keep accuracy in front of your mind as this is his main issue even before rate and fluency. Look over the fluency routine that I send. I also sent the fluency norms for you. Keep an eye on comprehension and retell and be sure those are also strong.
